Before you adopt a pet you will need to know what's involved. Pictures and descriptions of the animals available for adoption are located under "Pet Pictures". There is a link to the Adoption Form at the bottom of the page.
Our adoption fees are as follows: Dogs and Puppies: $45.00 Cats and Kittens: $30.00 Adoption fee includes: a collar and ID tag with an ID Number, SPCA of NENC, and our phone number written on it - so that if the animal is lost the "finder" can call the Shelter and we will be able to identify the owner who can be contacted about the "found" pet. The adopter is required to sign a contract agreeing to have the pet spayed or neutered. There is also an additional $15 adoption fee for pets that are already spayed or neutered. SPCA of NENC offers vouchers to help with spay/neuter costs for animals adopted from our Shelter as follows: $50.00 towards the spaying of a Dog $40.00 towards the neutering of a Dog $40.00 towards the spaying of a Cat $20.00 towards the neutering of a Cat A Sr. Citizen pet owner, (age 55 or older), may obtain a voucher to help with the cost to spay or neuter their pet. (Sr. Citizen Vouchers are limited to two per year to any one individual.) For dogs or cats owned by persons who receive Medicaid, SSi, Food Stamps, or Special Assistance in North Carolina, we have vouchers that will pay the full spay/neuter expenses (must choose from our list of veterinarians).
